Recently, the Shanghai Market Supervision Administration released the first batch of typical cases of special governance of food safety in online catering, focusing on illegal acts such as forging qualifications, adulterated ingredients, false information, and unhygienic conditions. The cases reported this time include multiple cases of "substituting duck for beef". For example, a restaurant in Pudong New Area has been selling Chinois Beef Potato Casserole online since 2023, with the platform labeling the main ingredients as potatoes and beef. On April 16, the Pudong New Area Market Supervision Bureau and Pudong Public Security conducted an on-site inspection and found that the raw material of the "black pepper shredded beef" used in the kitchen of the restaurant was only duck meat, water, and starch, but it was used to make a variety of beef-containing casseroles. Selling duck meat as beef constitutes the illegal act of adulterating food, and law enforcement officers have confiscated the materials involved according to law.
