Expansion project of G5 Beijing-Kunming Expressway, the Zhanghekou Tunnel No. 1 is now fully open to traffic.

On April 25th, the expansion and control project of the G5 Beijing-Kunming Expressway, from Hanzhong to Guangyuan, built by China Railway Fifth Bureau, achieved the dual-channel penetration of the Zhanghekou No. 1 Tunnel, laying a solid foundation for the timely opening of the entire line. The Zhanghekou No. 1 Tunnel is located in Wangcang County, Sichuan Province, and is a dual-direction six-lane highway tunnel with a length of 1223 meters for the left lane and 1229 meters for the right lane, with a maximum depth of 217.7 meters. The expansion and control project of the Hanzhong to Guangyuan section of the Beijing-Kunming Expressway is an important strategic passage connecting Sichuan and Shaanxi. After the project is completed, the road capacity for traveling north out of Sichuan will be further enhanced.
