Middle East tensions disrupt supply chain; US military conducts large-scale trans-Pacific transport of military fuel.
A shipment of special military-grade fuel goods is about to depart from the United States, crossing the Pacific Ocean for transportation, This rare arrangement highlights the serious impact that the conflict in Iran has had on the global oil supply chain. According to reports, a transportation bidding requirement was issued on Thursday to transport 235,000 barrels of aviation kerosene from the Cherry Point Refinery in Blaine, Washington to Subic Bay in the Philippines. Subic Bay is a strategic gateway and logistical hub for US military operations, and the shipment is scheduled to depart in early June. The document also revealed another separate bidding, planning to transport 260,000 barrels of military-grade aviation kerosene or diesel from Cherry Point Harbor to Yokosuka Port in Sasebo City, Japan, a port dedicated to supplying American naval ships. These transportation arrangements further exacerbate the trend of US fuel delivery to East Asia. A spokesperson for the US Transportation Command, responsible for the coordination and transportation of bulk military fuels, declined to comment or confirm on the aforementioned transportation bidding. The spokesperson only stated that the US military will routinely use multiple transportation routes for route testing and delivery of targeted supplies.
