In the first quarter of this year, the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan sold approximately 22 tons of gold. Prior to this, record high gold prices pushed the sovereign wealth fund's gold holdings to their highest limit. According to the fund's quarterly report, the sale of gold reserves this time is valued at over $3 billion at current prices, marking the first time since 2012 when the fund first purchased gold that it has reduced its gold holdings.
