The investigation involved a renovation project at the Federal Reserve's headquarters in Washington. U.S. Attorney Pilro stated that on the morning of that day, he had requested the Inspector General of the Federal Reserve to conduct a thorough investigation into the cost overrun issues of the project, which amounted to billions of dollars. The Inspector General has the authority to ensure that the Federal Reserve is accountable to the American taxpayers. Pilro is looking forward to receiving a detailed investigation report in a short time, and firmly believes that the results will help to dispel all doubts. Pilro stated that since the Inspector General has begun this investigation, he has instructed the Department of Justice to terminate the current investigation. However, if necessary, he will not hesitate to restart the criminal investigation.
