Trump hints at "finding another way" to investigate the renovation project at the Fed headquarters.
Republicans urge Trump to cancel federal prosecutor's investigation into the Fed renovation project, while Trump hints that he may accept another form of investigation. On Thursday, when asked if people outside the Justice Department could find the answers he wants, Trump said, "Yes. I mean, you see, it's easy." Senators and Treasury Secretary Mnuchin proposed that Congress investigate the Fed instead of the US Attorney Durham, in order to pressure North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis to stop blocking the nomination of Wash as Fed Chair. Trump said in response to another question, "We need to find out what went wrong. It used to be beautiful, and they tore it down, maybe because maintenance costs were too high." Although Trump did not mention Fed Chair Powell's involvement in the project, he still criticized, "His performance on interest rates has been poor."
