For the first time in over a year, the monthly supply of natural gas shipped to Europe by sea has decreased, due to port construction and tightening global gas supplies. Data shows that the number of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers arriving in Europe this month is lower compared to last April, and this gap is expected to widen as time goes on. Forecasts from data intelligence company Kpler suggest that imports this month may drop by about 3%, marking the first year-on-year decline since early 2025. Kpler analyst Ronald Pinto stated that the decrease in European imports in April reflects a combination of factors, including planned and unplanned shutdowns at import terminals in Spain, Greece, Italy, and Germany, as well as the tightening global supply.
