NIO announced the plan to establish a battery swapping network along the Silk Road at the Beijing Auto Show.

On April 24th, at the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show, NIO announced its plan to build a charging network along the Silk Road, and also launched a themed experiential activity of the same name. According to the plan, the charging network will be completed in two phases. In May of this year, the layout from Xi'an to Dunhuang, a total of 1739 kilometers with 20 charging stations, will be completed first. By the end of September, the entire line will be connected to Horgos, Xinjiang, with a total length of 3448 kilometers and a total of 30 charging stations. At that time, NIO and Ladao brand users will be able to complete the journey from Xi'an to Horgos by charging stations.
