On April 23, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with the Chairman of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association and Chairman of Mercedes-Benz Group, Colinsong, to exchange views on issues such as Sino-European automotive industry cooperation and the EU's trade and economic restrictions on China. Wang Wentao emphasized that the proper resolution of the electric vehicle case between China and Europe sends a clear signal to the world that both parties are willing and able to resolve their differences through dialogue. Recently, the EU has implemented a series of trade and economic restrictions with protectionist undertones that have caused substantial damage to China-EU economic and trade relations. China has expressed serious concerns and will steadfastly defend the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. It is hoped that Mercedes-Benz Group and the European automotive industry will actively voice their concerns and urge the European side to adjust inappropriate clauses to create a fair, just, and nondiscriminatory market environment for China-EU business cooperation.
