American diesel is shipped from the West Coast to Australia to help alleviate the fuel shortage caused by the Iraq War.
A series of oil tankers carrying diesel from the US West Coast have started to arrive in Australia, with several more tankers on their way as Australia works to control the fuel crisis triggered by the Iran war. According to port data compiled by energy analysis company Vortexa, this week two tankers transported 525,000 barrels of ultra-low sulfur diesel from BP's Cherry Point refinery in Washington state to Australia. Three more tankers are on their way on this route, carrying 925,000 barrels of ultra-low sulfur diesel destined for Australia. In the past two months, the total amount of diesel shipped from the US West Coast to Australia is almost equivalent to the total of the past six years.
