Jefferies stated in a research report that UBS may launch a $30 billion buyback when announcing its second quarter results. Switzerland has relaxed its capital rules aimed at ensuring the bank's safety to comply with international standards. Analysts believe that these more lenient rules may open the door for more buybacks. They expect that the first quarter results will highlight the strength of its balance sheet and a return to positive net asset inflows from the second quarter onwards. UBS stock fell 2.7%.
