The State Council Information Office held a press conference on the operation of agriculture and rural economy in the first quarter of 2026. Maerdan Mugeiti, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, stated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will take the following measures to promote the high-quality development of rural industries. Firstly, promote quality and efficiency improvement. Establish a hierarchical rural characteristic industry catalogue, guide the differentiated, clustered, and branded development of characteristic industries, and continuously upgrade them. Vigorously cultivate characteristic brands, more accurately connect with the market, and expand the value-added space. Secondly, promote chain extension and supplementation. Cultivate leading enterprises and "chain leaders," promote coordinated progress in primary processing, deep processing, and comprehensive utilization of by-products, extend the industrial chain, enhance the value chain, and fully utilize "from agriculture to food," "from livestock to meat," and "from agriculture to industry." Thirdly, promote the development of business formats.
