TSMC announced on Wednesday two improvements in chip manufacturing technology: one is the A13 technology, which will be mass produced in 2029 and may be used for artificial intelligence chips; the other is the N2U technology, a more cost-effective option that can be used for manufacturing smartphones, laptops, and artificial intelligence chips. The company plans to dig deeper into the potential of existing extreme ultraviolet lithography machines from its Dutch supplier ASML, rather than turning to the next generation of high numerical aperture extreme ultraviolet lithography machines.
