The U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday that last week U.S. crude oil inventories increased, while gasoline and refined oil inventories decreased. Due to supply interruptions caused by the Iran war, the total U.S. exports reached a record level. The Energy Information Administration stated that in the week ending April 17, crude oil inventories increased by 1.9 million barrels to 465.7 million barrels, compared to an expected decrease of 1.2 million barrels. The EIA said that crude oil inventories at the delivery center in Cushing, Oklahoma increased by 806,000 barrels. Despite the unexpected increase in inventories, oil prices still rose.
