On April 22, Professor Edward Yau, Secretary for Innovation and Technology of Hong Kong, responded to questions from legislators that the government had previously launched the "Technology Voucher Program" and the "Dedicated Fund on Branding, Upgrading and Domestics Sales" to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in digital transformation. Due to the positive response from SMEs regarding the Dedicated Fund, the government will allocate an additional HK$300 million to optimize the program in order to encourage SMEs to adopt existing digital solutions and enhance competitiveness and information security. Yau stated that the government is currently reviewing the Dedicated Fund with Cyberport, and they will consider adding artificial intelligence and cybersecurity solutions to the program. They will also determine the funding model, scope, amount, and implementation details of the new round of the program based on the latest transformation needs of SMEs, market product supply and prices, operational experiences, etc. The goal is to launch an optimized Dedicated Fund after consulting the Legislative Council in the second half of this year.
