Ministry of Emergency Management: In the first quarter, various natural disasters resulted in 750,800 people being affected to varying degrees, with 6 deaths or missing persons.
The Ministry of Emergency Management held a press conference today to report on the natural disasters in the first three months, and also to introduce the preparation of emergency response forces, disaster monitoring and early warning, and the situation of forest and grassland fire prevention during the current flood season. Officials at the conference reported that in the first quarter, low temperature, rain, snow, ice, freezing, snow disasters, wind and hail, and earthquakes were the main natural disasters in China. There were multiple occurrences of low temperature, rain, snow, ice, and freezing disasters in various regions, with a total of 10 cold air processes affecting the country, slightly more than usual for the same period. The forest and grassland fire risk in the northern regions remained stable, while it was more prominent in the southern regions. Shen Zhanli, spokesperson of the Ministry of Emergency Management, stated that preliminary statistics show that various natural disasters in the first quarter have affected 750,800 people to varying degrees, resulting in 6 deaths or missing persons, and over 8,200 people requiring urgent relocation and emergency relief assistance.
