Tai'an government department referred to the new measures taken by the mainland towards Taiwan as "interference" behaviors. The Taiwan Affairs Office responded.
On April 22nd, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office held a regular press conference. A reporter asked about the visit of the leader of the Chinese Nationalist Party, Zheng Liwen, to the mainland. The head of the Taiwan security department stated that cross-strait exchanges should be led by the Taiwan authorities and not decided by party-to-party relations. The new measures introduced by the mainland towards Taiwan may be seen as interference in elections, hoping to influence the political situation on the island. What is your comment on this?
Spokesperson Zhang Han responded by stating that the Democratic Progressive Party authorities stubbornly adhere to a "Taiwan independence" separatist position, leading to a suspension of cross-strait dialogue and negotiations. They also deliberately smear, attack, and suppress the normal exchanges and interactions between various political parties, groups, and sectors in Taiwan and the mainland. We have introduced 10 policy measures to promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, which are welcomed and supported by various sectors of Taiwan society and the Taiwanese people, all of whom want to reap the benefits sooner rather than later. Only the DPP authorities come out to attack, defame, and oppose. This once again exposes the true intentions of the DPP authorities in seeking "Taiwan independence", as well as their evil nature in destroying cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, harming the well-being of the people, and going against the will of the people.
