Frequent rainfall in the southern region, the office of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management are discussing and deploying flood control, disaster relief and rescue work in key areas.
In recent days, there have been frequent rainfall events in the southern region. On April 21, the Office of the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management organized a meeting with meteorological, water resources, and other departments to analyze the development trend of heavy rainfall in the southwest, south of the Yangtze River, and south China regions, and to study and deploy flood control, emergency response, and disaster relief work in key areas. Chen Min, Director of the Office of the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Management and Water Resources, presided over the meeting. The meeting pointed out that recent heavy rainfall in Hunan, Guizhou, and Jiangxi has broken records for the same period. A round of heavy rainfall starting from the 20th has been widespread and intense. It is predicted that another round of rainfall will arrive in the southern region starting from the 26th. The continuous rainfall has saturated the soil in some areas, increasing the risk of mountain torrents and geological disasters.
