On April 20, 2026, the Intermediate People's Court of Huanggang City, Hubei Province, publicly sentenced the defendant Huang Dafa and 12 others for organizing, leading, and participating in a criminal organization with mafia-like characteristics in the first instance. They were convicted of 21 crimes including organizing and leading a criminal organization, intentional injury, and fraud. Huang Dafa was sentenced to death, deprived of political rights for life, and had all personal property confiscated. The other 11 defendants were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from thirteen years to two years and two months, and were fined or had all personal property confiscated. The illegal gains of the criminal organization and individuals involved, as well as their offspring and profits, shall be recovered in accordance with the law and turned over to the national treasury.
