According to the Hainan Daily, on April 20, 2011, the Hainan outlying island duty-free policy was officially implemented. Data released by the Haikou Customs on April 20 showed that from April 20, 2011 to April 19, 2026, over the past 15 years, the Haikou Customs has supervised a total of 286.4 billion yuan in duty-free shopping on Hainan outlying islands, with 347 million items purchased by 50.87 million people.
