Bangladesh will increase domestic retail fuel prices by 10% to 15%.
The Energy Ministry of Bangladesh issued a statement on Saturday evening, stating that due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East causing a sharp rise in international oil prices and tightening supplies, Bangladesh will raise domestic retail fuel prices by 10% to 15%. According to the official notice, after the price adjustment: gasoline retail price will be 135 taka per liter, up from 116 taka; diesel will be 115 taka per liter, and kerosene will be 130 taka per liter. Relevant officials stated that this price adjustment was necessary. In recent weeks, the soaring international oil prices and disruptions in the supply chain, combined with rising shipping and insurance costs, have significantly increased the cost of fuel imports, especially with the outbreak of tensions in Iran causing a sharp increase in oil prices over the past seven weeks, exacerbating domestic pressures.
