The National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Transport are leading the preparation of the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan for the Development of a Modern Comprehensive Transportation System".
The State Council Information Office held a series of themed press conferences on April 17th, entitled "Starting the '15th Five-Year Plan' Period", to introduce the relevant situation of promoting high-quality economic and social development during the '15th Five-Year Plan' period. Chen Lei, Director of the Development Strategy and Planning Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that during the '15th Five-Year Plan' period, the improvement of a modern comprehensive transportation system will promote network improvement, chain strengthening, and quality enhancement. Efforts will be made to promote the construction of cross-regional and cross-basin key transportation corridors, such as coastal, border, and along the Yangtze River corridors, as well as new land and sea passages in the western regions, and to improve the layout of cross-river, cross-sea, and cross-bay passages. It will also focus on the construction of international and national comprehensive transportation hub cities to enhance the breadth and depth of network coverage, as well as international connectivity. Currently, the NDRC and Ministry of Transport are leading the preparation of the "15th Five-Year Plan" for the development of a modern comprehensive transportation system, systematically planning the relevant goals, tasks, and engineering projects for the '15th Five-Year Plan' period.
