Tesla is planning to produce humanoid robots in Shanghai.
"Nikkei Economic News" reported on April 15th that Tesla revealed on the 14th that it is considering producing humanoid robots at its Shanghai Gigafactory. The Shanghai factory began producing electric vehicles in 2019 and started production of large-scale energy storage batteries in 2025. This new plan will further expand the manufacturing projects to include humanoid robots, aiming to maintain its growth momentum in the Chinese market. Tesla's Vice President and President of Tesla China, Wang Hao, stated on the 14th that with the arrival of the era of robots, the Shanghai Gigafactory will play an extremely important role as a production base, making significant contributions in the field of robots and other products, just like Tesla's other factories. The report mentioned that Tesla has not yet disclosed specific details such as the exact time of production and production scale.
