On the 15th, President Trump of the United States posted on social media that the leaders of Israel and Lebanon will have a dialogue "tomorrow." Trump wrote in the post: "The two leaders haven't talked to each other for a long time, about 34 years. It will happen tomorrow." Trump did not mention more details about the Israel-Lebanon dialogue in the post. Israel, Lebanon, and the United States held trilateral talks in Washington on the 14th, and Lebanon agreed to officially start direct negotiations at a time and place agreed upon by both parties. Israel has always refused to negotiate directly with Hezbollah in Lebanon. The US State Department issued a statement after the trilateral talks on the 14th, saying that this was the first important high-level contact between Lebanon and Israel since 1993. According to US media reports, Israel and Lebanon have not established diplomatic relations, and this meeting is the first direct talks between non-military personnel of the two countries in decades. Mahmoud Qamati, deputy chairman of Hezbollah's political bureau in Lebanon, stated in an interview with a Lebanese TV station on the 15th that Hezbollah has agreed to a ceasefire, but does not accept a repeat of the situation where Lebanon fulfills its obligations after signing a ceasefire agreement with Israel in 2024 while Israel avoids its responsibilities.
