The U.S. State Department issued a statement on the 14th after trilateral talks between Israel, Lebanon, and the United States in Washington, stating that the participants had "productive" discussions on various measures to promote direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon. All parties agreed unanimously to officially start direct negotiations at a time and location agreed upon by both Israel and Lebanon.
