United Nations official: around 70% of the population in Sudan lives below the poverty line.

On the 14th local time, Luca Renda, the representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Sudan, stated that currently about 70% of the population in Sudan lives below the poverty line, which is nearly double the proportion before the outbreak of armed conflict in Sudan. Renda said that based on the poverty standard of $4.20 per person per day, the current proportion of the population living in poverty in Sudan is approximately 70%, while before the outbreak of conflict in 2023, this proportion was 38%.
