The Chinese Chess Association released a report on the punishment of individuals such as Hong Zhi for misconduct on the 13th. This is the third batch of names of individuals punished after the "buying and selling chess" incident in the chess world. Among the 6 players announced on that day, Hong Zhi, Xie Jing, and Xu Chao have been banned for life. The report stated that based on the chess "buying and selling chess" materials transferred to the Chinese Chess Association by the public security and judicial departments, it was confirmed that chess players like Hong Zhi were involved in buying and selling chess through bribery and corruption, causing serious harm to the development of chess. In order to maintain discipline and promote a clean and positive environment for the development of chess, in accordance with the "Disciplinary Regulations and Punishment Rules of the Chinese Chess Association" and other relevant regulations, considering the severity of the violations and the attitudes of the individuals involved, the Disciplinary and Moral Committee of the Chinese Chess Association has decided to take appropriate actions against the individuals involved. During the ban period, the 6 players are prohibited from participating in any chess events and activities organized or authorized by the Chinese Chess Association and its member units. Hong Zhi, Xie Jing, and Xu Chao have been banned for life; Shen Peng has been banned for 8 years, starting from July 24, 2024 to July 23, 2032; Jiang Chuan has been banned for 5 years, starting from July 24, 2024 to July 23, 2029; Xu Chongfeng has been banned for 2 years, starting from July 24, 2024 to July 23, 2026. All 5 players except for Xu Chongfeng have had their technical rankings revoked by the Chinese Chess Association.
