Peru holds presidential and parliamentary elections.
Peru will hold presidential and parliamentary elections on the 12th, electing a new president, vice president, members of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, and members of the Andean Parliament for a term until 2031. At 7 a.m. local time on the 12th, the general election voting officially began, with over 27 million voters selecting their preferred candidates from 35 presidential and vice presidential candidates, as well as 60 senators, 130 deputies, and 5 members representing Peru in the Andean Parliament. All polling stations nationwide will close at 5 p.m. on the same day. Preliminary results of the presidential election are expected to be announced that evening.
