Recently, the CCTV "Financial Investigation" program exposed the chaos in the transportation and sale of live fish in many aquatic markets, using substances such as eugenol, industrial alcohol, and methyl chloride to anesthetize live fish. In order to further regulate the operation of live fish in Beijing, effectively ensure the quality and safety of aquatic products, the Beijing Municipal Market Supervision Administration issued the following tips for live fish operation: 1. Strictly observe the safety bottom line, do not use prohibited substances, live fish transportation, temporary breeding, sales and other links strictly prohibit the use of eugenol, methyl chloride and other unapproved anesthetics, as well as industrial alcohol, diazepam, malachite green and other substances prohibited by the state. Operators must strictly comply with laws and regulations and eliminate any illegal activities that endanger food safety. 2. Strictly inspect the goods, ensure traceability of the source, when purchasing live fish, choose regular breeding bases and suppliers, request and retain purchase certificates, commitment to meet standards, product quality certificates, etc., establish and implement a system of recording purchase records, truthfully record the name of the live fish, specifications, quantity, supplier, purchase date and other information. It is strictly forbidden to purchase and sell live fish with unknown sources. 3. Strengthen entry management, prevent problematic products from entering, market operators must strictly implement the responsibility for entry inspection management, inspect the purchase certificates, commitment to meet standards, and testing reports of incoming live fish, and not allow products without legal source certificates to enter for sale. Strengthen the rapid inspection of incoming live fish, promptly identify and deal with non-compliant products. 4. Strengthen daily inspections, fulfill management responsibilities, market operators must implement the requirements of the "daily control, weekly inspection, monthly scheduling" work mechanism, strengthen daily inspections of incoming live fish transportation vehicles, operator sales locations, and temporary breeding tanks, if suspicious situations or illegal acts are discovered, promptly stop and report to the local market supervision department.
