On April 11th, the High-Level Forum on the Development of Intelligent Electric Vehicles (2026) was held. NIO Chairman Li Bin stated that currently, batteries and chips account for over 50% of the cost of intelligent electric vehicles, and the costs of production capacity, verification, and organization are very high. There are two main reasons for this situation. Firstly, the lack of uniform specifications for battery cells restricts cost, efficiency, and market responsiveness. It is suggested to promote standardization of battery cells. Secondly, there are too many types of chips, and it is recommended that the types of chips be standardized to streamline the industry. Relevant departments are advised to organize automobile companies to unify the types of chips as soon as possible, with each type having some interchangeable standards. This will not only benefit the use of domestic chips in vehicles but also help reduce costs in the industry. (People's Finance News)
