North Korea's supreme leader Kim Jong Un meets with Wang Yi.
On the 10th, Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, met with Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the central headquarters of the Labor Party in Pyongyang.
Wang Yi conveyed warm greetings from General Secretary Xi Jinping to General Secretary Kim Jong-un, warmly congratulated the successful convening of the 9th Party Congress of the Korean Workers' Party and the 15th Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea, and expressed firm belief that under the strong leadership of Comrade Kim Jong-un, the Korean Workers' Party will lead all the people of North Korea to work together, and the socialist construction of North Korea will continue to advance to a new level.
Wang Yi said that in September last year, Comrade Kim Jong-un successfully visited China and attended the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. General Secretary Xi Jinping held a historic meeting with Comrade Kim Jong-un, providing strategic guidance to China-DPRK relations and pushing bilateral relations to a new level. China is willing to work with North Korea to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and two countries, enhance exchanges and cooperation, and inject new connotations of the times into the traditional friendship between China and North Korea. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that both China and North Korea are socialist countries led by Communist Parties, with common ideals and goals. Facing the complex international situation, China-DPRK should further strengthen communication and coordination in major international and regional affairs while firmly defending their own sovereignty, security, and development interests, and making due contributions to safeguarding the common interests of the vast developing countries and maintaining world peace and development.
Kim Jong-un welcomed Wang Yi's visit and asked him to convey warm greetings and good wishes to General Secretary Xi Jinping. Kim Jong-un stated, "I remember vividly the meeting with General Secretary Xi Jinping during my visit to China last September, and I am pleased to see that the important consensus reached between me and General Secretary Xi Jinping is being implemented concretely, bringing China-DPRK relations to new heights. In the face of the rapidly changing international situation, deepening and developing China-DPRK relations is in line with the common interests of the two countries, and it is the firm will and established policy of the Korean Party and government." North Korea fully supports General Secretary Xi Jinping's concept of a community of shared future for mankind and the four major global initiatives, and firmly supports China's legitimate positions and efforts in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity in issues such as Taiwan. North Korea is willing to take the magnificent blueprint established by the 9th Party Congress as an opportunity, work with China to further deepen and develop the friendly cooperation relationship centered on socialism, strengthen high-level exchanges, enhance strategic communication, firmly support each other, promote the development of their respective socialist causes, and play a role in the well-being of the people of both countries and world peace and stability.
At the invitation of the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi visited North Korea from April 9th to 10th. During the visit, Wang Yi held in-depth talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Son-gwon and paid tribute at the Jiang Dong County Cemetery for Chinese People's Volunteers martyrs.
