Documents show that Dubai will extend restrictions on foreign flights until May 31, with Indian airlines being the most affected.
Due to the impact of the Iran crisis, Dubai has imposed restrictions on foreign airlines, allowing only one flight per day to Dubai Airport until May 31. Documents show that Indian airlines had planned to operate a much larger number of flights compared to other countries, raising concerns about revenue losses. A letter from the Federation of Indian Airlines, representing top airlines like IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet, was sent to the Indian government on March 31, requesting them to urge Dubai authorities to lift the restriction. If the restriction is not lifted, they are considering taking reciprocal measures against Dubai-based airlines like Emirates and flydubai. Indian airlines are already facing financial pressures due to high fuel prices, being banned from using Pakistani airspace since the India-Pakistan military standoff last year, forcing them to take longer routes to Western countries.
