On April 9th, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam chaired a special meeting and accepted the proposal of the "Interdepartmental Supervisory Fuel Supply Task Force" after hearing their report. She announced the launch of a commercial diesel subsidy program totaling approximately HK$1.8 billion to alleviate the impact of the international oil price surge caused by geopolitical factors on Hong Kong's social services. Under this subsidy program, the Hong Kong government will provide a subsidy of HK$3 per liter of diesel for a period of two months. This subsidy will mainly benefit public or commercial vehicles that use diesel as fuel, including trucks, franchised and non-franchised buses, minibuses, as well as ferries, passenger ships, work boats, and fishing boats.
