Sinopec initiates the first underwater data center project.

Sinopec reported that on April 7th, Sinopec Engineering Construction Company and a global leading commercial undersea data center service provider, Shanghai HaiLan Cloud Technology Co., Ltd., signed a contract to officially launch the first undersea data center project designed by Sinopec. This project innovatively builds a collaborative model of "offshore wind power + undersea computing power", relying on direct power supply from offshore wind power to significantly reduce power transmission losses over long distances. At the same time, it utilizes the natural cold source of the ocean, achieving efficient cooling through heat exchange technology on the outer wall of the data chamber, without consuming fresh water throughout the process, realizing a win-win situation of energy efficiency and ecological environment protection.
