Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information, Muhtia Hafid, stated on Thursday evening that the government has issued a formal notice to Google after discovering that YouTube has failed to fulfill its obligations to protect users as required by new regulations. The government said that Google has not yet met compliance requirements and has not shown willingness to comply, which means it could face sanctions. Muhtia stated that Meta has completed compliance adjustments, setting the minimum age for users on Instagram, Facebook, and Threads platforms to 16 years old. The government is requiring other platforms to submit risk assessment reports within three months.
