Final data released by the US Department of Commerce on the 9th showed that in the fourth quarter of 2025, the US actual gross domestic product (GDP) grew at an annual rate of 0.5%, lower than the previously revised value of 0.7% and the initial estimate of 1.4%. The US Department of Commerce stated that the downward revision of economic growth in the US once again reflects a decrease in the contribution of investment to growth. The data shows that within domestic private investment, the contribution of private inventory changes to economic growth in that quarter was revised down from 0.28 percentage points to 0.14 percentage points; the contribution of fixed investment to economic growth was also revised down by 0.03 percentage points to 0.26 percentage points. The data also shows that the US actual GDP grew by 2.1% in 2025, consistent with previous estimates.
