From the evening of April 8th to the morning of April 9th, many areas in Hubei Province experienced heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, and other severe convective weather. Wuhan was the focus of this round of precipitation. From 8 p.m. on April 8th to 3 p.m. on April 9th, the accumulated rainfall at the Wuhan national station had reached 138 millimeters, not only breaking the local record for April single-day precipitation, but also breaking the earliest occurrence of heavy rain in the history of observations since April 29, 1990. Looking at historical meteorological data, the first heavy rain in Wuhan usually does not occur until May.
