A senior NATO official stated that the United States hopes European allies will make specific commitments to assist in ensuring the security of the Strait of Hormuz, requesting these countries to submit detailed plans to ensure the waterway remains open to navigation within a few days. The official revealed that this request was made during talks between US and NATO officials at the White House, Pentagon, and State Department. During the White House meeting, President Trump also met with NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg. The White House, Department of Defense, and State Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment late Wednesday night.
