After years of negotiations, FedEx and pilots reached a temporary wage agreement.
FedEx reached a temporary agreement with the union representing its more than 5,000 pilots on Wednesday, paving the way for a pay raise after years of negotiations. The FedEx management and the Air Line Pilots Association have been in negotiations since May 2021. According to the temporary agreement, pilots' hourly wages will increase by approximately 40% by 2026, followed by annual increases of 3% from 2028 to 2030. Captains will also receive retroactive pay of up to $150,000 missed during the negotiations, while first officers will receive retroactive pay of up to $102,500. The union said, "The temporary agreement will now be submitted to the FedEx Master Executive Council for review," adding that the agreement was reached in negotiations supervised by the National Mediation Board. FedEx has a fleet of 390 cargo jets and 313 turboprop planes, making it the world's largest cargo aircraft fleet, and the company confirmed the temporary agreement reached with its pilot union. In 2023, concerns about outsourcing led the pilots at the delivery company to narrowly reject a temporary agreement that included a 30% pay raise and improved pension benefits.
