Nepal 4 districts outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza
A government official in Nepal said on the 7th that since the beginning of this year, outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza have occurred in four districts of two provinces in Nepal. Indira Sharma, a spokesperson for the Livestock Services Bureau under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in Nepal, told Xinhua News Agency that since the beginning of this year, the H5N1 avian influenza virus has been detected in 23 poultry farms in four districts of Morang, Sunsari, Chabahil, and Bagmati province. Among them, Morang district reported the country's first case of avian influenza on March 18. Sharma said, "We are working hard to control the spread of the outbreak." According to statistics from the Livestock Services Bureau of Nepal, as of the 4th of this month, approximately 114,000 poultry have been culled and about 212,000 eggs have been destroyed in the affected areas due to avian influenza.
