India's Tata Steel was fined 17.55 billion rupees for excessive mining.

Tata Steel Limited of India stated in a statement released on Saturday that the company has received a notice from the Jharkhand mining department demanding 17.55 billion rupees. The notice was dated March 30th and was delivered on Friday, and it relates to alleged overproduction of coal during the fiscal years 2000-01 to 2006-07.
