Sony Financial Group analyst Jun Taro Morimoto said that due to multiple markets closing for Good Friday, trading volume is low and the USD/JPY exchange rate may touch 160.00 yen. Morimoto said, "If [US employment] data deviates from the average expectations, market participants should be wary of sharp price fluctuations in a low liquidity environment." On Friday morning, Japanese Finance Minister Koizumi reiterated that she is prepared to intervene to support the yen. She stated, "We have consistently stated that we are ready to take decisive actions and are committed to defending everything necessary." She noted that exchange rate fluctuations may have an impact on daily life and the country's economy. The USD is currently trading at 159.60 yen.
