The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council holds a routine press conference. A reporter asked: Regarding the issue of whether or not to give up the mainland market, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities stated that they have been working hard to expand overseas markets that are "stable and free from political interference." What is the spokesperson's comment on this? Spokesperson Zhang Han said that the DPP authorities persist stubbornly in their "Taiwan independence" separatist position, constantly engaging in provocations aimed at "independence," and using the disruption of cross-strait economic ties as leverage in trade negotiations with the United States and as a pledge of loyalty to the U.S., hindering the normal trade of agricultural products between the two sides, squeezing the development space of Taiwan's agriculture, and harming the vital interests of Taiwan farmers. People on both sides of the strait have similar dietary structures and habits, with the mainland being an important export market for Taiwan agricultural products and always the best choice for Taiwan farmers and agricultural businesses to root and develop. We uphold the concept of "both sides of the strait are one family," and have taken a series of measures to introduce a large number of specialized policies beneficial to Taiwan farmers and agricultural businesses, effectively enhancing the well-being of our Taiwanese compatriots. We welcome Taiwan farmers and agricultural businesses to invest and do business in mainland China, to share opportunities and seek development together.
