The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference. A reporter asked: recently, the chairman of Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council, Qiu Chui-Zheng, claimed that the mainland's policy towards Taiwan is "promoting the high-quality integration and development of the two sides," intending to integrate Taiwan compatriots into its life through institutionalization, giving them equal treatment, attracting Taiwan companies and funds to enter its industry chain and supply chain, thus achieving "promoting integration and reunification." What is the spokesperson's comment on this? Spokesperson Zhang Han said, "The vast majority of Taiwanese compatriots are our kith and kin. For a long time, we have upheld the concept of the two sides being one family, actively promoting economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, deepening integration and development in various fields across the Taiwan Strait, continuously making new progress and achievements in implementing the policy of equal treatment for Taiwanese compatriots, fully demonstrating the goodwill of seeking benefits for Taiwanese compatriots and promoting peaceful and integrated development of cross-strait relations, receiving high support and wide acclaim from Taiwanese compatriots." The Democratic Progressive Party authorities, out of their "Taiwan independence" nature, fear that compatriots from both sides of the strait will get closer, deliberately inciting confrontation between the two sides, and smearing and obstructing anything beneficial to the development of cross-strait relations and the well-being of compatriots from both sides, which will not be accepted by the people and will not succeed.
