Wang Yi met with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar.
On March 31st, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held talks in Beijing with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar, exchanging in-depth views on current international and regional conflicts. Wang Yi stated that just after hosting a quadrilateral foreign ministers meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan had promptly visited Beijing to discuss how to ease tensions in the Middle East, a move welcomed by China. Pakistan's efforts to mediate for peace and ceasefire demonstrate a firm commitment to maintaining regional and global peace. Timely strategic communication on major international and regional issues between China and Pakistan, deepening strategic cooperation, is the natural choice for the China-Pakistan community of shared destiny. China supports and expects Pakistan to play a unique and important role in de-escalating tensions and restoring negotiations. This process is not easy, but Pakistan's mediation efforts are in the common interest of all parties. Only by ceasing fire can we avoid the spillover and spread of war, prevent further casualties and losses, ensure the safety of the Strait of Hormuz, and safeguard international energy security and stable supply chains. China is willing to work together with Pakistan to overcome difficulties, eliminate obstacles, quickly extinguish the flames of war, create opportunities for peace, and open the window for negotiations. Wang Yi stated that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Both sides must implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance high-level exchanges, deepen strategic mutual trust, expand pragmatic cooperation, and continuously promote the construction of the China-Pakistan community of shared destiny. Dar congratulated China on the successful conclusion of the National People's Congress and the adoption of the "Five-Year Plan," believing that China will achieve greater success. Dar stated that the friendship between Pakistan and China is a precious asset deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Pakistan is willing to take the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to inherit historical friendship with China, deepen all-around cooperation, and push forward the continuous development of the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic partnership. He thanked China for supporting Pakistan in mediating the Iran situation. Both Pakistan and China are committed to maintaining regional peace and stability. The current conflict disrupts international energy supply and causes significant damage to developing countries. Achieving peace is just and urgent. Solutions can only be found at the negotiating table. Pakistan is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China, pushing for an early start to negotiations and restoring regional peace. The two sides jointly issued the "Five-Point Initiative for Restoring Peace and Stability in the Gulf and the Middle East."
