In April, 2798 types of food in Japan are planned to increase in price, marking the return of a price hike trend after six months.
Sina Finance reported on March 31st that on March 31st, the "Empire Database" of Japan released a survey result stating that in April, there are plans to increase the prices of 2798 kinds of food in Japan. This is the first time in half a year since October 2025 that Japan has seen more than 2000 kinds of food prices increase in a single month. In terms of categories, the highest number of price increases are in "seasonings" such as mayonnaise and salad dressing, reaching 1514 kinds; 609 kinds of "processed foods" such as instant noodles and canned foods; and 369 kinds of "alcoholic beverages" including whiskey and shochu. The main reason for the price increases is the rising prices of raw materials.
