Analyst: The Strait of Hormuz has become a key passageway for oil transportation in the Middle East.
Sina Finance reported on March 30th that Muyu Xu from Kpler stated that the Mandeb Strait is increasingly becoming an important route for Middle East oil supply to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. The company's data shows that in March, a daily average of 4.14 million barrels of crude oil passed through the strait, a significant increase from the daily average of 2.95 million barrels in February, reaching the highest level since October 2023 when attacks by Houthi militants on passing ships had not yet begun. The senior oil analyst stated that among these crude oil shipments, approximately 1.97 million barrels per day are exported from the Red Sea ports of Saudi Arabia, while the rest are mainly Russian crude oil heading towards Asia. The Mandeb Strait connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
