Toyota Motor Corporation said on Monday that global production in February fell for the fourth consecutive month, mainly due to a decrease in production capacity at its Canadian factories as the company switched production between the old and new models of the popular SUV RAV4. Global automotive production fell by 3.9% year-on-year to 749,673 units. Toyota stated that overall demand remains strong, and the decline in production is mainly due to the switch between the old and new models of the popular RAV4 SUV. Production changes by region were as follows: Canada: down 46.2%; China: down 11.5%; Japan: down 2.6%; Middle East: down 20.4%; US: up 3.4%; Europe: up 3.9%. Global sales fell by 3.3% year-on-year to 737,134 units. Overseas sales fell by 2.2%, mainly due to a 13.9% decline in sales in the Chinese market and an 8.3% decline in sales in Japan, while sales in the US market increased by 3.2%. The above production and sales figures include the luxury brand Lexus. According to estimates, Toyota has been the world's largest automaker in terms of global sales for the sixth consecutive year by 2025.
