The largest computing power project in the history of Hong Kong has started, with a total investment of 23.8 billion Hong Kong dollars.
On March 28th, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Runze Sha Ling Data Park was held in Sha Ling, New Territories, Hong Kong. This is the largest-scale, highest computing power, and strongest industry-driving computing infrastructure project in the history of Hong Kong, with a total investment of HK$23.8 billion, which will bring a 36-fold increase in computing power to Hong Kong in the future. "Sha Ling Data Park is a key project for the development of the innovation and technology industry in the northern metropolitan area of Hong Kong, and will further consolidate Hong Kong's position as a priority hub for data connectivity between China and other countries. The data park will enhance the deep integration of artificial intelligence with industrial development, resonating with the national strategy of 'AI+' implementation," said Professor Sun Dong, the Secretary for Innovation and Technology. He also mentioned that the park will be able to efficiently complement the data industry chain and computing power cluster in the Greater Bay Area, becoming the core engine to drive the development of Hong Kong's artificial intelligence industry.
