Guangdong Railway Administration reports the reasons for the high-speed rail delay

On the afternoon and evening of March 29th, heavy rain and tornadoes caused foreign objects to hang on the overhead contact wires of the railway, resulting in long delays for some trains on the Guiyang-Guangzhou, Nanning-Guangzhou, and Guangzhou-Zhanjiang lines. Guangzhou Railway apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers by train suspensions and delays, stating that the line has been repaired and train service is gradually returning to normal. Around 3:00pm on the 29th, due to the influence of heavy rain and tornadoes, foreign objects were hanging on the overhead contact wires between Guangzhou South and Foshan West stations on the Nanning-Guangzhou high-speed railway, Guiyang-Guangzhou high-speed railway, and Foshan-Liwan section of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang high-speed railway, causing delays for some trains. The railway department immediately activated emergency response plans and carried out urgent repairs. After the railway department made great efforts to repair, at 6:12pm on March 29th, the foreign objects hanging on the overhead contact wires between Foshan and Liwan on the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang high-speed railway, and at 6:35pm between Guangzhou South and Foshan West on the Nanning-Guangzhou and Guiyang-Guangzhou high-speed railways, were cleared, equipment malfunctions were eliminated, and train service is gradually returning to normal. The railway department reminded passengers to closely monitor the official railway microblogs, WeChat accounts, station announcements, and electronic displays, or use the 12306 app and hotline to get information on train delays to avoid any travel disruptions. That evening, Guangzhou Railway reported the cause of the high-speed train delays, which was that around 3:00pm on March 29th, a tornado blew a corrugated steel shed roof and a 30-meter steel beam onto the high-speed railway contact wires, causing power outages on the Nanning-Guangzhou and Guiyang-Guangzhou high-speed railways, and delays and suspensions of some trains on the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang high-speed railway.
